Hello!
We’re Harry and Pam.  Thanks for taking the time to look at our profile to learn a little about us.  Although we may never realize the difficulty of the decision you are making, we hope that by reading our profile you will feel confident that your child will be in a warm and loving home should you choose us as the adoptive parents for your child.

About us...
We were introduced through a mutual friend in August of 2002.  It didn’t take long to become friends, and that friendship soon turned to romance.  Most of our relationship was a long-distance romance, so communication has always been a strong and important part of our relationship.  We were married on September 12, 2003.  Our wedding was a great celebration of our love – a love that has grown with each passing day.

Why we want to adopt...
We’ve both known throughout our lives that we wanted to raise a family.  But infertility was an obstacle neither of us ever dreamed we would have to face.  We have close friends who have adopted, and we’ve seen the joy they’ve experienced in the adoption process, so we have wholeheartedly embraced adoption as the way to build our family. Having given of ourselves to love the children and youth we’ve had the opportunity to work with in our church, there is nothing we would enjoy or appreciate more than the opportunity to love and raise children of our own.

Pam...
I grew up in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.  I always enjoyed school and was a pretty good student.  I was active in sports, band, yearbook and music.  College took me to Florida where I earned my associate’s degree as a Medical Secretary.  After graduation I began working at our local hospital and became very involved in my home church.  For the last sixteen years, I’ve worked in our church nursery, taught Sunday school, and babysat for several families; and I’ve enjoyed many activities with my adult friends.  I enjoy sewing, playing the piano, and singing (especially with my husband).  My husband’s new position will allow me to be a stay-home mom when we have the opportunity to be parents. Harry says:  “Pam’s greatest desire in the world is to be a Mommy, and I have no doubt that she will be a fantastic parent.  She is firm and fair in dealing with kids, and they gravitate toward her because of her fun-loving nature and zeal for life.”

Harry...
I spent my childhood in a small town in western Pennsylvania.  I enjoyed playing sports, fishing and hunting with my Dad and brother, and was a very good student in school.  After earning a masters degree in Church Administration, I moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where I served as a youth pastor and music director for fifteen years.  My life revolved around teaching children and teenagers and helping them to become godly young people and responsible adults.  I am now the senior pastor of a growing Baptist church.  The responsibility is tremendous, but I love serving in ministry, and the flexibility of my schedule allows me to handle family matters as necessary.  I’m looking forward to the challenges and the joys of fatherhoodPam says: “I’ve seen the love Harry has shown for the teens and children of our church families, and I know he will be a wonderful Daddy.  He interacts well with children and gains their respect easily.  He has been a great teacher and a good leader.”

Our home & community...
Our home is a two-story farm house in a small town in northeastern Pennsylvania.  It was recently renovated, and we’ve enjoyed painting and decorating it to make it warm and inviting.  We have three bedrooms (one to be a nursery) and two baths, and the house sits on a spacious lot with a large yard just waiting for children to play in it.  Small towns have a quiet charm.  Everybody knows everybody, and watches out for everybody as well.  Throughout the summer and fall there’s always a parade, a fair or a fire station barbecue to attend, and there are plenty of parks with a variety of activities for families.  Winter provides plenty of opportunities to build snowmen, go sledding or tubing, or go snow skiing.  We are also within easy driving distance of a growing city, and within a couple hours of major cities like New York and Philadelphia, so our children will have a wide range of fun events and activities to enjoy as they grow up.

Our pets...
Champ is our five-year-old Boston Terrier mix.  He has tons of energy, and gives tons of love.  He loves chasing the frisbee in the yard and the tennis ball in the house.  When he’s not flying around the house full-throttle, he’s usually napping under the bed or beside the couch.  Coalie is our four-year old short-hair cat.  Pam adopted him when he was an orphan kitty, and he’s been her faithful companion ever since.  He enjoys sitting in the bay window soaking in the sun; and when either of us is sitting still, you can rest assured that Coalie will be right there seeking attention, or sometimes even wanting to play fetch with a crumpled up piece of paper.  Champ and Coalie get along very well and often play together around the house.  They have both been very good with children when family and friends have visited, and we’re sure they will enjoy having a little boy or little girl to play with them.

Our fun times...
We both love the outdoors.  Harry especially enjoys fishing, hunting, and canoeing; and he’s even taught Pam how to use the fly rod.  Pam enjoys snow skiing and just playing in the snow.  We are both avid readers, we enjoy playing board games at home and we have a great time when we can go to some kind of sporting event (hockey, football, baseball).  And we love having our family and friends over for dinner and a few hours of playing board games or watching a movie.

We especially enjoy traveling and seeing different parts of the country – or other countries for that matter.  Our most recent vacation was a Disney cruise to the western Caribbean.  We snorkeled with stingrays, saw some ancient Mayan ruins, played on the beach, and went parasailing.  We look forward to the day when we can take our children to meet Mickey Mouse, whether at Disney World or while sailing the high seas.

Families & friends...
Harry’s parents have always been very supportive.  He has one younger brother, and they’ve grown to be great friends.  David is married and has two little boys – Chandler and Carson.  Harry’s parents have been fantastic grandparents, and they’re looking forward to having another grandchild to spoil.  They all live in western Pennsylvania, so we are able to get together regularly.

Pam’s parents live in northern Virginia, and have also been supportive throughout her life.  They’re very excited to become grandparents for the first time.  Pam has two brothers, one older and one younger, who also live in Virginia.  Pam is especially close to her younger brother, Brian, who is a volunteer firefighter.  They are also within easy driving distance for a visit from time to time.

We have a large support base of friends, both locally and abroad.  Our church family has welcomed us with open arms, and they have encouraged us as we have pursued the possibility of adopting a child.

Our faith...
We both grew up in Christian homes where we faithfully attended church.  As adults, we have been actively involved in many ministries in our church.  We’ve been involved in music, teaching children, and youth ministries for many years.  Our Christian faith is the foundation upon which our lives are built, and it gives us purpose and direction in our lives.

As parents...
The unconditional love and support shown to us by our parents has provided us with two wonderful examples of parenthood.  It us our desire to show that same love and guidance to our children.  We want to be there to kiss the boo-boos and rejoice in the victories.  We will teach and model our faith on a daily basis, and we will encourage them to do their best in whatever they do.  It is our job to prepare them to be productive in society and responsible in their conduct.

Open adoption...
We will be open with our child about the story of his/her adoption, and they will know about you and the selfless loving decision you’ve made. And we would be more than happy to send pictures and letters as our child grows to help assure you that they are in a wonderful, happy home
with parents who love unconditionally and completely.

Thank you!
